Osun Monarch Remanded Over ₦17m Property Damage, to Observe Eid in Prison
A monarch in Egbedi, Osun State, Oba Muideen Azeez has been sent to the Correctional Centre in Ile-Ife. He faces charges over alleged malicious damage to properties worth ₦17 million. He is set to observe Eid-ul-Adha behind bars. Oba Azeez, known for past allegations of thuggery, land grabbing and fraud, was arrested on a bench warrant issued by Justice L.O. Arojo at the State High Court in Ede. The warrant followed his failure to appear alongside a co-defendant in court. He and four others are also on trial before Justice Kudirat Akano for offences including arson and destruction of farm crops valued at ₦200 million. The 2019 incident in Oloba included robbery of palm oil, palm kernel and goats. Court documents state the bench warrant was issued on May 18 after Oba Azeez and Kabiru Raheem failed to appear. Police confirmed the arrest and remand were carried out strictly on the court’s order. The next hearing is set for June 5, 2026.
