Ojodu Residents Urged to Keep Environment Clean as Monthly Sanitation Returns April 25

Ojodu Residents Urged to Keep Environment Clean as Monthly Sanitation Returns April 25

The Ojodu LCDA chairman has announced the resumption of the state’s monthly environmental sanitation. Starting Saturday, April 25, and every last Saturday of the month, residents are asked to clean their surroundings, clear drainage channels, and dispose of waste properly between 6:30 am and 8:30 am. Movement during these hours will be unrestricted. This voluntary exercise follows Governor Sanwo-Olu’s decision to reinstate the programme after rising refuse littering. Authorities say it is a collective responsibility to build a cleaner, healthier, and flood-resilient community.

What steps will you take in your own compound when the monthly sanitation drive kicks off this Saturday?

Sure, I'll sweep the compound, gather fallen leaves and bag them, then coordinate with neighbours for proper waste disposal.

Despite all these monthly sanitation campaigns, we still see clogged drains and piles of rubbish. They'll need stronger follow-through this time.

It's great to urge cleanup every month, but without penalties or incentives, many residents may skip out again.

Make sure say residents get gloves and waste bags before Saturday, then assign teams to clear their drains early morning.
