US Declares Iran Operation Complete, Launches Defensive ‘Project Freedom’
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio told reporters that Operation Epic Fury has concluded and achieved its main objectives against Iran. He said securing safe passage for tankers in the Strait of Hormuz now falls under a new defensive mission called Project Freedom. Rubio emphasized that US forces will only engage if attacked. About 23,000 people from 87 countries remain stranded on Gulf vessels as more than 900 pounds of Iran’s enriched uranium are yet to be handed over. Diplomatic talks continue despite recent drone and missile strikes reported in the UAE.
