Glasgow 2026: Onome Didih Wins Weightlifting Gold With Three Games Records

Onome Didih won gold in the women’s 53kg weightlifting event at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, setting three new Games records. She lifted 93kg in the snatch and 113kg in the clean and jerk for a record total of 206kg. India’s Gyaneshwari Yadav took silver with 199kg, while Canada’s Rebeka Groulx won bronze with 178kg. Didih’s victory is Team Nigeria’s second weightlifting gold of the Games, following Edidiong Joseph Umoafia’s win in the men’s 71kg category. Nigeria now has nine medals: five gold and four silver.
