Angwan Tiv Residents in FCT Plead for More Relocation Time Ahead of Demolition
Residents of Angwan Tiv in Kagini, Federal Capital Territory, have appealed to the FCTA for humane notice and enough time to relocate before demolition begins. They say they accept government ownership but fear sudden boundary re-markings and imminent demolition without adequate warning. Community spokesman Apostle Dr. Favour Ekpoba explained that officials first demolished structures, then re-marked the land on June 26, warning of further demolition within days. Families are anxious, with many children preparing for promotional exams and others unsure where to move on short notice. Leaders have commended FCT Minister Nyesom Wike’s road-building efforts but urged intervention by the FCDA and Satellite Towns Development Department. They want verification of the legality of boundary markings and a clear relocation plan if vacating is legally required. Residents say they invested life savings in modest homes and lack funds for sudden moves. They call on authorities to engage directly, act transparently, and show compassion by granting adequate notice and a well-coordinated relocation process.
