PCN Seals 724 Illicit Medicine Outlets Across Kwara State
The Pharmacy Council of Nigeria carried out a four-day operation across 10 LGAs in Kwara State. Inspectors checked 1,238 premises, including pharmacies, patent medicine stores, and illegal outlets. The exercise uncovered violations such as unlicensed operations, poor drug storage, unauthorized handling of controlled medicines, and even cooking inside shops. As a result, 724 premises were sealed and compliance orders issued to offenders. Health experts warn that such malpractices can fuel antimicrobial resistance, treatment failures, and avoidable deaths. The PCN urges Nigerians to buy medications only from outlets displaying valid council certificates.
