Arkansas Woman Faces Felony Theft Charge Over KSh2.5 Million Payroll Error

A Jonesboro woman has been charged with felony theft in Arkansas. She allegedly refused to return an accidental overpayment of KSh2.5 million, roughly $20,000. On May 10, 2025, a payroll glitch paid her KSh213,000 per hour instead of KSh2,100 for a 12-hour shift, resulting in the overpayment. The company’s CEO reported the discrepancy in August. Court papers say she ignored requests to repay and missed a scheduled police interview, prompting an arrest warrant. Police took her into custody this week. She was released on a KSh1.9 million bond and is due for arraignment on May 18.
