Shettima: You Can’t Bulldoze Your Way Into Nigeria’s Presidency
In a recent address, Vice President Kashim Shettima argued that Nigeria’s presidency cannot be seized through force or intimidation. He said true leadership comes from building genuine relationships across ethnic and religious lines. Shettima voiced support for a president of South-Eastern extraction to heal civil war wounds. At the same time, he warned against the aggressive tactics of some supporters, saying such approaches will not succeed. He suggested that other South-East figures may be more prepared than Peter Obi. He highlighted Rochas Okorocha’s national ties and David Umahi’s visible development work in Ebonyi State. Recalling Shehu Musa Yar’Adua’s nationwide bridge-building, Shettima stressed that political success relies on outreach and unity, not deceit or threats.
