Enyimba’s Chidera Michael Joins NPFL Golden Boot Race with 10 Goals

Enyimba’s Chidera Michael Joins NPFL Golden Boot Race with 10 Goals

Enyimba’s young forward Chidera Michael struck his tenth goal of the 2025/26 NPFL season in the 3-0 victory over Katsina United on Matchday 34 in Aba. That effort moved him into third place on the scorers’ chart, behind Joseph Arumala (12) and Godwin Obaje (11). Michael made his top-flight debut this season after joining from Ozalla Football Academy. With just four matches remaining, he and Enyimba are aiming for a strong finish to the campaign. The 22-year-old credited his teammates, coaches and supporters for their backing, and thanked God for an injury-free run so far. He stressed that his focus remains on helping the team rather than chasing individual accolades. Michael described the season as both tough and rewarding and reiterated Enyimba’s goal of ending the campaign on a high.

How do you think Chidera Michael's rise to third on the scorers' chart will affect Enyimba's title chances next season?

You really think his 10 goals alone will swing Enyimba's title chances, or do other factors matter more?

Focus on one striker's goals alone is too narrow. Team defence and consistency matter more than a temporary scoring spree.

It seems odd that Michael is still behind Arumala and Obaje despite his recent scoring spree in Aba.

I'm not convinced he can maintain that form through upcoming matches; long scoring runs often hit a lull.

For Enyimba's coaching, make sure say they replicate Katsina's defensive shape in training to sharpen Michael's finishing under pressure.
