Oluwo of Iwoland Backs Tinubu’s Reform Agenda, Hints at Term Extension

Oluwo of Iwoland Backs Tinubu’s Reform Agenda, Hints at Term Extension

The Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, marked President Tinubu’s 74th birthday by praising the administration’s economic and governance reforms. He suggested many Nigerians might call for a constitutional review to allow the President to serve beyond two terms. He highlighted measures such as exchange-rate unification, higher oil production, strengthened foreign reserves and local government autonomy. The monarch credited these steps with stabilising the naira, boosting foreign investment and driving major infrastructure projects across the country. On a personal note, I’ve seen security improve so much our community vigilante group is no longer needed. We now enjoy 24/7 power, cheaper market prices and fuel station promos that offer extra litres on every purchase. How have Tinubu’s policies affected your life? Share your experiences below.

It seems unusual for a monarch to openly support extending presidential terms after praising recent economic reforms.

Pushing for longer terms could overshadow genuine policy assessment and risk concentrating too much power in one office.

A better approach might involve broad civic education campaigns so people can judge reform outcomes before considering any constitutional changes.
