Nigerian Dietician Struck Off UK Register After Falsifying Qualifications
A Nigerian dietician hired at Manchester Royal Infirmary in early 2024 was struck off after supervisors discovered she could not identify basic anatomy or calculate BMI correctly. She reportedly mixed up the small and large intestines and misnamed the gallbladder. A professional tribunal found she had deliberately exaggerated her clinical experience on her application and during her interview. Her false claims included expertise in feeding tubes, medical nutrition therapy for complex diseases and using radiology to treat heart failure. Colleagues raised concerns within days of her starting, prompting an investigation and suspension. The tribunal concluded her dishonesty put patients at risk, although no harm occurred due to strict supervision. Her registration with the UK dietetic body was revoked, preventing any future practice. The Trust has since strengthened recruitment checks and warned that anyone who falsifies credentials will face similar action.
