Light Aircraft Crashes Into Beijing’s 528m CITIC Tower
A small plane struck the upper floors of Beijing’s tallest skyscraper on Friday evening. The 109-storey CITIC Tower, known as China Zun, was evacuated after witnesses heard a loud bang and saw debris falling from the building. Emergency crews including police, firefighters and ambulances arrived quickly. Roads around the tower in the central business district were closed as officials assessed the damage and searched for any injured people. Online videos showed shattered windows near the impact zone and aircraft wreckage scattered on the ground. Authorities have not yet confirmed the pilot’s condition or reported any casualties, though some nearby vehicles were damaged.
