Heartbreak as 16-Year-Old Nigerian Boy Drowns in UK Lake
Police have identified 16-year-old Iretomiwa Abiodun Michael, known as Tomiwa, as the boy who got into difficulty at Swanholme Lakes in Lincoln on July 9, 2026. Emergency services rescued him and he briefly responded to treatment but sadly died in hospital at 8:50pm with his parents by his side. Tomiwa was the eldest of four brothers. His parents described him as vibrant, protective and full of joy. He played football for Greenbank FC and Lincoln City FC and was active in his church youth ministry. A file will be passed to the coroner to investigate the circumstances of his drowning. This is the second teenager to die at the lake this summer, after 15-year-old Declan Sawyer in May.
