Awka Ozo Society Backs Soludo’s Panel on Chief Gibson Nwosu Pending White Paper

The Awka Ozo title holders have expressed support for the Anambra State Government’s panel recognising Chief Gibson Nwosu as the traditional ruler of Awka. They announced this stance at a meeting in Awka, speaking through their President, Ozo James Chukwujekwu Eze. The group is awaiting the publication of the government’s White Paper before formally declaring full solidarity with the decision. Eze stressed that the Ozo society cannot work against a constituted authority and will align once the White Paper is released. He called the prolonged dispute over the Awka stool unfortunate and assured that the peaceful organisation will continue to work towards restoring harmony in the community. The inquiry panel, chaired by retired Justice Paul Obidigwe, found that Chief Nwosu was not lawfully dethroned and that a rival claimant’s selection violated due process. Governor Soludo has pledged to review the recommendations and publish a White Paper, noting there is no victor or vanquished in the matter.

What might be the impact if Soludo's panel recommendation on Chief Nwosu shifts before the white paper is released?

Could you clarify which stakeholders' reactions you'd like to explore if the panel alters its recommendation early?

I'm not convinced a last-minute shift will sway public opinion much before that white paper arrives.

It's notable that the Awka Ozo title holders quickly endorsed that panel without seeing the official white paper details first.

I'm not convinced such royal endorsements carry much weight until the white paper outlines actual legal backing and community consultation.

Stakeholders should demand transparency on that white paper timeline and key findings before fully recognising any traditional ruler selection.
