Awka Ozo Society Backs Soludo’s Panel on Chief Gibson Nwosu Pending White Paper
The Awka Ozo title holders have expressed support for the Anambra State Government’s panel recognising Chief Gibson Nwosu as the traditional ruler of Awka. They announced this stance at a meeting in Awka, speaking through their President, Ozo James Chukwujekwu Eze. The group is awaiting the publication of the government’s White Paper before formally declaring full solidarity with the decision. Eze stressed that the Ozo society cannot work against a constituted authority and will align once the White Paper is released. He called the prolonged dispute over the Awka stool unfortunate and assured that the peaceful organisation will continue to work towards restoring harmony in the community. The inquiry panel, chaired by retired Justice Paul Obidigwe, found that Chief Nwosu was not lawfully dethroned and that a rival claimant’s selection violated due process. Governor Soludo has pledged to review the recommendations and publish a White Paper, noting there is no victor or vanquished in the matter.
