All You Need to Know About the 2026 UTME Kicking Off April 16

All You Need to Know About the 2026 UTME Kicking Off April 16

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has confirmed that the 2026 UTME will start on Thursday, April 16. Thousands of candidates are preparing after months of intensive study. Last year’s exam saw over 1.5 million students score below 200 and nearly 380,000 forced to retake the test. This time, all eyes are on JAMB to ensure a smoother process. Candidates and parents are eager for updates. JAMB held a mock exam on March 28 to help students get familiar with the Computer-Based Test format. Out of 224,597 registrants, 152,586 sat for the mock. Those who took part can check their mock scores via SMS using the number they registered with. Remember, mock scores don’t count towards your main UTME result. Use the mock experience to identify gaps and refine your revision. Stay focused as D-day approaches.

With the UTME set for April 16, which study methods are you focusing on to avoid falling below 200?

Have you tried mixing timed practice with review sessions, or do you stick to one method?

It's worrying that even after months of preparation, over 1.5 million candidates still scored under 200 in last year's exam.

Relying solely on one UTME sitting seems harsh when months of study can still end in disappointing scores.

Schedule focused study blocks and simulate exam conditions at home to build confidence before April 16.
