Democracy Day: Tinubu Warns Terrorists, Assures Nigerians ‘We Don’t Break’
President Bola Tinubu marked 27 years of civilian rule by saluting pro-democracy heroes and reflecting on Nigeria’s resilience. He reminded citizens: “We bend, we bleed, but we do not break.” Highlighting security gains, he announced that terror-related deaths have fallen by 81 percent since 2015 and that over 13,000 insurgents were neutralised last year. He warned bandits, kidnappers and terror sponsors that amnesty windows are closing and that financiers of violence will face the full force of the state. The President also called for credible elections in Ekiti and Osun, urging INEC, security agencies and political parties to safeguard the ballot. He appealed to Nigerians to unite beyond ethnicity and to defend democratic institutions through robust debate and civic vigilance. On the economy, Tinubu noted improving federation revenues and pledged continued support for infrastructure, healthcare and education. He urged citizens to look past current hardships toward a united and prosperous future.
