Motherhood Wasn’t in My Plan When I Left Lagos for London at 26
I was born and raised in Lagos, where I worked a 9-to-5 in a mortgage bank while building my content creation journey on the side. I loved my job, but the stress of Lagos traffic and the feeling that I needed more from life pushed me to consider a bigger move. By 26, I had decided to study Business with International Management in London, even though I had not even applied for a passport at the start of the process. I leaned heavily on my family and friends to make it happen. They helped me financially and emotionally, and my friend Anu made my transition easier by helping me sort out housing and work before I arrived. Once school began, I settled into a strict routine of classes, work, and weekends spent studying or exploring London. In 2024, I had my baby girl, and that became both the most beautiful and most difficult season of my life. I became a single mother in a country where I had no family nearby, and there were months when I had very little left after rent and bills. I kept posting fashion and lifestyle content, but I did not show the struggle behind the scenes because I did not want people judging me. Eventually, I realised I needed real support and worked to bring my mother over to help with my daughter. Her arrival changed everything. Later, after a serious incident in July 2025, I shared my story publicly for the first time and was shocked by how many women related to it. My life is not perfect, but it is beautiful, and I want other women, especially single mothers, to know that they are not alone.
