US Coast Guard Bases Lose Power and Internet Over Unpaid Bills

US Coast Guard Bases Lose Power and Internet Over Unpaid Bills

A US funding impasse has left Coast Guard installations worldwide without electricity and internet. Utilities cut power over $5.2 million in unpaid bills, and major ISPs have suspended service for nonpayment. The service also owes contractors more than $300 million. Pay for officers and enlisted personnel is at risk of delay as funding remains unresolved. At the same time, Congress is poised to pass legislation granting full US veterans’ benefits to dual Israeli-American citizens who served in the IDF. This measure would be covered by US taxpayer funds.

Priority should be restoring power and connectivity immediately, then negotiating a payment schedule to prevent further operational gaps.
