Plateau Governor Compensates Igbo Community for Civil War Losses, Urges Unity

Leaders of the Igbo community from all 17 LGAs of Plateau State paid a courtesy visit to Governor Caleb Mutfwang at the Government House in Jos. They highlighted their deep roots in the state and the significant economic contributions they have made over the years. Governor Mutfwang praised the community’s role in Plateau’s growth and noted that, despite the suffering of the civil war, Igbo residents in Plateau endured comparatively less hardship. He announced that his administration has paid compensation for property seized after the war, calling it a step toward justice and reconciliation. The Governor emphasized that Plateau belongs to everyone who lives, invests, and contributes here, regardless of ethnic background. He urged stronger collaboration to mentor young Plateau men and women and encouraged residents to “put the past behind us and journey together to greater days ahead.” The visit concluded with both the state government and Igbo leaders pledging to deepen peace, unity, and sustainable development across Plateau State.
