Former Super Eagles midfielder Garba Lawal believes Morocco can upset Brazil at next year’s World Cup if they recapture the spirit that carried them to a historic semi-final in Qatar. Morocco made history in 2022 by becoming the first African nation to reach the last four, beating top teams like Belgium, Spain and Portugal before bowing out to France. Lawal told a sports outlet that the Atlas Lions’ chances against five-time champions Brazil will hinge on self-confidence and inner determination rather than reputation. Drawing on his own World Cup goal against Spain in 1998, he added that football often produces surprises and that Morocco can win if they truly believe in themselves.
