Mumbai Court Unfreezes Four Bank Accounts Linked to Rhea Chakraborty’s Family
A Mumbai special court has ordered the release of four bank accounts held by actress Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik and their mother. The accounts were frozen by the Narcotics Control Bureau in 2020 after a FIR in actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case. Some were defrozen in 2021, but funds in ICICI, Axis and Kotak accounts remained blocked. The family’s lawyers argued that the NCB failed to follow Section 68F of the NDPS Act, which requires a competent authority to review asset freezes within a set period. They said the continued freeze was illegal. The court agreed and cited the procedural lapse, ordering the immediate release of the remaining funds.
