Emeka Ike: Politics Excludes Ordinary Nigerians, Time to Mobilize Voters

Emeka Ike says Nigeria’s political arena now favors only the wealthy. He told Saturday Beats that without deep pockets, even intelligent professionals cannot compete. Bankers, journalists and other capable citizens have effectively been shut out. He warned against backing “moneybags” with questionable resources. He entered politics to drive change before his children face the same disappointments his mother did. A recent data breach on INEC’s site prompted him to sue a presidential aide. Despite feeling unsafe, he remains resolute and prepared to defend himself. Ike urged every Nigerian to register and collect a voter card ahead of the 2027 elections. He called on civil society organisations to monitor the process, sensitise voters and hold officials accountable. He believes a strong turnout can overwhelm those manipulating the system.
