UTME 2026: LASU Edges Out UNILAG as JAMB’s Most Preferred University

Lagos State University recorded the highest number of first-choice applications in the 2026 UTME, drawing 84,426 picks or 3.76 percent of the total. The University of Lagos followed with 78,240 first-choice applications, while Obafemi Awolowo University placed third with 60,370. The University of Ibadan and University of Benin came fourth and fifth, with 58,895 and 55,425 applications respectively. Rounding out the top ten were UNIZIK, UNILORIN, UNN, FUOYE and UNIPORT. JAMB revealed these figures at its policy meeting in Abuja and noted how candidate preferences have shifted since previous cycles.
