On April 1, 2026, a joint patrol of Nigeria Police operatives, National Forest Guards and Kaiama Vigilante members intercepted and arrested 20-year-old Mallami Abubakar from Isanlu Dankuturu in Kogi State. The operation took place in Nanu, Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State. Investigators revealed that the suspect was recruited by an associate known as “Babi” from Babana Village in Niger State. He had been instructed to travel through Baruten Local Government Area en route to Farinsuni to join a group linked to ISWAP. Mallami Abubakar remains in custody as the Kwara State Police Command continues its investigations. The authorities aim to uncover the full network and apprehend other suspects involved in the recruitment plot.
