Prioritise Poverty Reduction Over Vote-Buying Mercenaries
There is no other way to read the latest Poverty Report than to confirm that Nigeria remains the world’s poverty capital. This administration must recalibrate and put poverty reduction at the top of its agenda. Too many Nigerians struggle to feed their families. Men who leave home without food return to shame and broken homes. When fathers are absent, communities suffer. Electoral mercenaries without genuine followings only drain resources. Buying votes is unwise and counterproductive when the same funds could revive industries and create lasting jobs. We need a comprehensive poverty-reduction strategy. Revive our factories, boost agriculture, improve housing and health services, and foster job creation for real grassroots impact.
