Jesus and the Withered Fig Tree: A Lesson on Faith (Matthew 21:18-22)

Early one morning, Jesus felt hungry on His way back to the city. He noticed a fig tree full of leaves but found no fruit. Jesus spoke to the tree, saying, “May you never bear fruit again!” Instantly, the tree withered. The disciples were amazed at how quickly the tree dried up. They asked, “How did it happen so fast?” Jesus answered, “If you have faith and do not doubt, you can do what was done to the fig tree. You can even tell a mountain to be thrown into the sea, and it will obey you. “Believe, and you will receive whatever you pray for.”

It's curious that the tree withered instantly without a chance to explain why it bore no fruit this season.

I'm not convinced the lesson is only about faith. Maybe it's about responsibility too, expecting more than just appearances.
