New ASHIA Boss Challenges 117 Hospitals to Raise Care Standards for Anambra Insured Patients
The Executive Secretary and CEO of Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA), Dr Augustine Ezeka, held his first interactive session with chief medical directors of the 117 hospitals accredited under the state scheme. He urged them to step up service quality and ensure timely, fair provider payments through stronger partnerships. Under the theme “Technical Discussion on Provider Payment Mechanism and Quality of Care,” Dr Ezeka highlighted the governor’s mandate to expand universal health coverage and improve access for Ndi Anambra. He also announced an optimized call centre for handling hospital requests and emergency case notifications within two days for swift payment processing. A health financing expert outlined how capitation and fee-for-service models can benefit hospitals financially, urging them to maintain top customer care. Other resource persons discussed health insurance fundamentals and payment mechanisms to sustain patient inflow and ease the financing burden for both providers and enrollees.
