NSA Nuhu Ribadu: Tinubu Inherited Two Decades of School Abductions

Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser, says President Bola Tinubu inherited the crisis of school kidnappings and other security challenges from past Peoples Democratic Party administrations. He noted these violent attacks have plagued Nigeria for more than 20 years. Ribadu praised the president’s efforts to tackle bandits and terrorists nationwide. “We will defeat evil. We will never allow them. They are on their way out,” he assured Nigerians during a visit to Oyo State after the abduction of 46 schoolchildren and staff. Mass abductions began in 2014 under a previous administration and continued through subsequent governments. Since Mr Tinubu assumed office, nearly 600 schoolchildren have been kidnapped in coordinated attacks, averaging about 199 students each year, according to a recent report.
