IGP Disu Urges Police to See Nigerians as Their ‘Bosses’

IGP Disu Urges Police to See Nigerians as Their ‘Bosses’

The Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, has reminded officers that public trust is key to effective policing. He warned that misconduct damages the Force’s reputation and stressed that citizens—who fund the police through taxes—must be treated with respect. Disu spoke during a visit to the Lagos State Governor’s Office Correspondents in Ikeja. He also addressed Rapid Response Squad officers, urging them not to tarnish the unit’s name and to view communities as partners in maintaining security. Recalling his time as an RRS commander, the IGP thanked journalists for their past support and highlighted the importance of collaboration between the media and police. A representative of the Lagos Governor’s Press Corps praised Disu’s people-centred style and expressed confidence in his ability to improve policing in Nigeria.
