Senate Endorses Anioma State Creation, Asaba to Be Capital

Godswill Akpabio reaffirmed the Senate’s support for creating Anioma State under President Tinubu’s administration. He spoke at the APC South-South zonal congress in Asaba. The plan, led by Senator Ned Nwoko, would establish Asaba as the Anioma capital. Warri would serve as the capital of the remaining Delta State, given its airport, seaport and oil industry. Akpabio said the new state will drive balanced development, improve administration and promote decentralisation. He urged south-south stakeholders to back the Renewed Hope Agenda. The proposal has gained strong backing in the 10th Senate and is under consideration as part of broader constitutional amendments.
