Abuja Police Debunk Kidnapping Hoax at Phase 1 Primary School

Abuja Police Debunk Kidnapping Hoax at Phase 1 Primary School

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has dismissed reports of a student kidnapping at Phase 1 Primary School, Gbagalape, Abuja. On June 4 at around 10:30 am, officers at Nyanya Division rushed to the school after a distress call of an alleged abduction. They found pupils running and shouting “kidnappers,” but no suspects or victims were located. A thorough search of the school grounds, nearby hills, boundaries and surrounding communities confirmed there was no abduction. Adjacent schools were also checked as a precaution. The police urge everyone to verify information before sharing and to report any suspicious activity to the nearest station or emergency line.

How can parents and teachers work together to prevent panic when a school safety report turns out to be false?

I agree that regular updates from teachers and parents can calm nerves and keep everyone informed after a false report.

It's odd that rumours spread widely before police confirmation. Makes you wonder who reported that initial abduction alarm without checking facts first.

I'm not convinced we should ignore every alarm after this debunk. Some calls may still signal real danger and deserve prompt verification.

Schools and nearby residents should establish direct emergency lines to local divisions to reduce reliance on unverified social media updates.
