YouTube to Automatically Flag AI-Generated Videos
YouTube will soon begin detecting AI-generated videos and adding visible labels for viewers. This marks a shift from its earlier policy of relying on creators to self-disclose generative AI use. If the platform’s systems spot significant photorealistic AI content without a creator’s disclosure, a label will be applied automatically. Creators can appeal if they believe their videos were wrongly flagged. YouTube says these labels will not affect recommendations. Other streaming services are rolling out similar AI-content labelling measures as deepfakes and AI edits become more common.
