When Politics Celebrates Fake Tragedies: The Rise of Fantasy-Verdict Politics

Supporters sometimes imagine verdicts and treat them as real victories. They convict opponents in their minds, then celebrate as if justice has been served. A recent rumor claimed a judge in Tinubu’s election case went blind. Instead of pausing to verify, some began rejoicing. Their only motive was that the ruling didn’t favor their candidate. Wishing illness, blindness or death on a judge is not democratic debate. It is moral sickness. Disagree with a decision? Challenge the reasoning. File an appeal. That is how democracy works. When a movement dehumanises opponents, first comes insult, then celebration of fake disasters. This is fantasy- verdict politics—hatred inventing punishment when the law refuses to deliver their desired outcome.

What do you think drives supporters to celebrate rumors of verdicts before any real evidence or confirmation?

Absolutely, it's human nature to cling to hopeful narratives. Jumping the gun shows how much bias influences our readiness for good news.

It's interesting how quickly people embrace imagined victories without waiting for official court statements or verified facts.

I'm not convinced this is just blind support; maybe some folks genuinely misunderstand the legal process here.

Before sharing dramatic rumors, we should all wait for credible court documents or official statements to ensure accuracy.
