Zone 2 ‘Dragon Team’ Raids Cross-State Motorcycle Theft Ring, Arrests Three Suspects
According to a police statement, the Zone 2 Command in Onikan, Lagos, dismantled a gang responsible for stealing motorcycles across Lagos and Ogun. Officers recovered five unregistered bikes after a petition about thefts in Sagamu and Ijebu Ode led to surveillance by the elite ‘Dragon Team.’ An ambush at Sagamu Interchange on May 19 resulted in the arrest of three suspects aged 26, 29 and 48. Preliminary investigations show the syndicate targeted parked motorcycles between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m., towing them away before force-unlocking the steering and wiring to start the engines. The bikes were handed off for resale in Ogere, Ojodu Berger and Mushin. About 50 motorcycles have been stolen and sold along the Sagamu–Ijebu Ode axis. Police say they will pursue other members still at large and ensure diligent prosecution upon concluding investigations.
