Army vs Justice Crack: Safeguarding Troop Morale in Wartime
Nigeria’s armed forces are locked in bitter combat in the North East, North West, and North Central. In this environment, social media posts that weaponise welfare complaints can break soldier morale and aid enemy propaganda. Justice Crack built direct lines with frontline troops. He urged them to refuse orders and question their commanders’ legitimacy. That crossed from legitimate criticism into active incitement of insubordination. The Nigerian Army’s response was lawful and measured. The influencer was arrested, investigated, and handed over to civilian police—no court-martial, no censorship of genuine whistleblowers. To prevent future incidents, the military should set up fast grievance channels and clear social-media rules. Influencers must verify claims and avoid provoking indiscipline. Civil society and media can work with defence authorities to ensure transparency while safeguarding national security.
