Soludo’s Administration to Launch Orthopaedic and Radiology Units at Amaku Teaching Hospital
Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration plans to establish fully equipped orthopaedic and radiology units at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku Awka. Chief Medical Director Dr. Maureen Umeakuewulu said the hospital will recruit specialist staff to run these new services. She added that the hospital will pursue accreditation for residency training in every department. The facility will also partner with local and international hospitals for ongoing staff training and skill exchange. Telemedicine services will be expanded to reach patients who cannot travel to Amaku. The CMD will seek grants and collaborations to boost medical research funding. Dr. Umeakuewulu emphasized strengthening satellite hospitals and a solid referral network. She also pledged to tackle Nigeria’s high maternal mortality by improving community and hospital care.
