Ogun Police Expose Fake Bandit Video, Trace Footage to Kenya

Ogun Police Expose Fake Bandit Video, Trace Footage to Kenya

The Ogun State Police Command has dismissed a viral clip showing alleged forest bandits as false and recycled. A statement from the command’s spokesperson revealed the footage was recorded in Kenya during a General Service Unit operation against cattle rustlers and first appeared online in 2022. The state Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, condemned the deliberate spread of the unverified video, saying there is no intelligence or report of bandits operating in any part of Ogun State. He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to safety through intelligence-led policing and strategic deployments. CP Ojajuni urged residents to disregard the misleading clip and avoid sharing unverified content that could incite fear. He advised the public to follow official channels for security updates and report suspicious activities via the command’s emergency lines.

It's surprising that no one flagged the clip's Kenyan background before it went viral across local social media.

We all need to pause and double-check video sources before resharing, especially when the stakes involve public safety.
