Security Forces Seize Major Arms Cache, Prevent Retaliatory Attack on Kogi Communities
The Kogi State government says it intercepted a large shipment of weapons destined for criminal gangs. Joint teams from local security operatives, the Hybrid Forces under the National Security Adviser’s office, the DSS and the Nigerian Army traced a Golf 2 vehicle across state borders after weeks of surveillance. Three suspects were arrested in Sokoto State. Officers recovered two AK-47 rifles, several magazines, 67 rounds of ammunition, two pistols, 12 pistol rounds and military uniforms. The vehicle was later impounded in Kabba. Authorities say the arms were meant to replenish stockpiles after recent operations weakened criminal networks. The breakthrough follows the neutralisation of bandit leader Kachalla Battijo and reflects an ongoing intelligence-driven approach by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s administration. Residents are assured there is no cause for alarm. Security agencies have stepped up patrols and urged citizens to report any suspicious movements to help sustain the fight against crime in the state.
