Mandi Praises Algeria’s Comeback in 2-1 Win Over Jordan

Mandi Praises Algeria’s Comeback in 2-1 Win Over Jordan

Algeria recovered from a goal down to beat Jordan 2-1 at the San Francisco Bay Area Stadium and keep their World Cup 2026 hopes alive. Jordan took the lead just before halftime through Nizar Al Rashdan’s long-range strike. Algeria levelled in the 69th minute when Nadhir Benbouali headed in the equaliser. With eight minutes left, Amine Gouiri tapped in the winner from a corner. Defender Aissa Mandi said overcoming Jordan’s defensive block was tough. “We gave it our all and were rewarded with two set pieces that we had practised,” he told FIFA.com. He added that the team was determined to bounce back after losing to Argentina. Algeria now sit third in Group J ahead of their final fixture against Austria.

Absolutely! Their energy boost and tighter midfield shape really turned the tide after that early deficit.

While Algeria's comeback shows resilience, their defense looked exposed before their equalizer. Jordan's long-range goal highlighted some real gaps.

A win from behind is always thrilling, but praising Mandi's comments feels premature when they still dropped that first goal so easily.

Algeria needs to tighten up that back line if they want to stay in this qualifier. Maybe focus on set piece drills before the next match.
