NBM of Africa Calls for Fair Treatment After Deportation of Nigerians from South Africa

NBM of Africa Calls for Fair Treatment After Deportation of Nigerians from South Africa

The National Executive Council of NBM of Africa has expressed deep concern over the recent deportation of Nigerian nationals from South Africa. They stress that, while every country may enforce its immigration laws, all individuals deserve fair and dignified treatment under international human rights standards. Nigeria and South Africa share a long history of solidarity. From supporting the anti-apartheid struggle to fostering economic ties, both nations have benefited from mutual cooperation. South African investors like MTN have created jobs and boosted the Nigerian economy. NBM of Africa urges both governments to engage in constructive dialogue. They call for a partnership founded on mutual respect, reciprocity, and protection for citizens living and working abroad. They also remind Nigerians overseas to maintain proper immigration documentation and uphold the positive values for which our people are known. True African unity, they affirm, depends on cooperation, integration, and shared prosperity.
