Economic Adviser: ₦10,000 Can Feed a Family for Days, ‘Cut Your Coat According to Your Cloth’
At a closed-door Coffee Hangout in Abuja, Tope Fasua, Special Adviser to the President on Economic Affairs, said a modest Nigerian family can still feed for several days with ₦10,000 despite rising food prices. Fasua urged households to manage their budgets more carefully and avoid exaggerating the country’s economic challenges. “Cut your coat according to your cloth,” he advised, stressing that prudent spending will help families cope. He acknowledged inflation but warned against comparing Nigeria’s economy to the US. “Purchasing power parity means ₦10,000 will go further here than the equivalent abroad,” he said.
