Ondo HOSTCOM Urges Official Channels for Pipeline Surveillance Discussions
The Ondo State chapter of HOSTCOM has asked the public and authorities to rely on statements from its recognised leadership on decentralising pipeline surveillance contracts. The group explained that the call for decentralisation aligns with the Petroleum Industry Act 2021. It recognises host communities’ role in safeguarding oil and gas infrastructure in Ugboland, both onshore and offshore. HOSTCOM Ondo highlighted existing Host Communities Development Trusts linked to operators such as Chevron and Conoil. It urged stakeholders, including the Federal Government and NNPCL, to seek clarification through its official leadership. The group reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the interests of oil-producing host communities and ensuring pipeline security aligns with legal provisions.
