Lagos Government Recovers Over ₦270 Million for Real Estate Scam Victims
The Lagos State Government has recovered more than ₦270 million from fraudulent estate agents and property developers to compensate residents affected by real estate scams. The Commissioner for Housing outlined steps taken by LASRERA at a recent press briefing in Alausa. These include stakeholder workshops, public awareness campaigns and enforcement actions aimed at improving transparency in the property sector. Billboards in areas like Surulere and Ikorodu now urge residents to verify operators through the official LASRERA database. A new satellite office in Surulere brings the total to four, and authorities have already sealed the premises of an unregistered operator in Ikorodu. The state government says it remains committed to protecting homebuyers and asks citizens to report suspicious activities to LASRERA and the Lagos State Task Force.
