Atiku Mourns Veteran Actor Kola Oyewo, Hails His Legacy in African Theatre

Atiku Abubakar has paid tribute to Nollywood legend Dr. Kola Oyewo following news of his passing. Announcing his condolences on X, the ADC presidential candidate described Oyewo as a “legendary thespian and scholar of African drama.” He highlighted the actor’s iconic performance as King Lapite in the classic film Saworoide and praised his role in growing theatre arts across Africa. “Atiku said a great void has been left in Theatre Arts and that Oyewo will be sorely missed by lovers of African stories worldwide,” his statement read. “I join his family and fans in mourning this exceptional dramatist and teacher of social conscience. May his soul rest in peace.”
