Okey Bakassi Offers N5M Reward After Stranger Steals Eight Phones at Ikoyi Football Field

Comedian Okey Bakassi has raised the alarm after a mysterious man snatched phones from players during a weekly game at an Ikoyi pitch. He explained that his group meets every Wednesday for football. A young man they didn’t know asked to join and was welcomed in. Moments later, the stranger pretended to be injured, sat on the bench and quietly walked off with eight phones. The theft has been reported to the police. A N5 million bounty is now offered for information leading to the suspect’s arrest. Bakassi shared a video appeal on social media via a popular entertainment site.

Did the players notice anything odd when the stranger joined the Wednesday game before their phones vanished?

Makes sense, they probably didn't expect anyone to slip in unnoticed before the phones went missing.

Not sure all that stranger chatter affected the game. Them fit no even notice anything strange before phones disappear.

A reward of N5M is eye-catching, yet I wonder if public awareness about security might be more effective.

Dangle N5M all you like, but it won't fix the fact that no one checked a stranger's background before letting him in.

Next time, teams should register guests upfront and keep bags in a secure area to avoid phone snatching during games.
