Senate Clarifies: National Assembly Did Not Insert ₦1.3bn for Non-Existent Agency
The Senate says the ₦1.3 billion budget line for the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) was neither created nor inserted by lawmakers. Senate spokesperson Yemi Adaramodu explained that screening and security checks for agency heads fall under the executive branch, not the National Assembly. He added that the dispute between the Presidency and the accused party is already before the courts. Adeniyi Adeyemi, accused of forging appointment letters to pose as director-general, denies wrongdoing and claims threats to his life. The Presidency has declared him wanted on an eight-count charge, while calls grow for an independent investigation into the controversy.
