Did God ‘Borrow’ Mary’s Womb Without Repayment?
No inconsistency exists. God did not literally borrow Mary’s womb. Instead, He created His Son’s body by His Word and overshadowed a virgin. He then honored His union by blessing Mary with other children after Jesus. Scripture explains this clearly. Luke 1:35 describes the Holy Spirit overshadowing Mary to form Jesus in her. Matthew 1:25 notes Joseph “knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son,” implying normal marital relations and other children followed. Psalm 69:8, applied to Jesus in John 2:17 and Romans 15:3, even refers to “my mother’s children.” These passages show Mary’s womb was never “borrowed” without repayment. The birth of Jesus and Mary’s subsequent children fulfill any notion of God paying back with “interest.”
