Second Woman Arrested in Louisiana Teacher Child Abuse Probe
A second suspect, 37-year-old Cortney Burleigh, was arrested in connection with the ongoing investigation of a Louisiana school teacher accused of abusing a child. She faces charges of indecent behavior with juveniles, cruelty to juveniles and obstruction of justice. Conviction could carry up to 10 years behind bars. The initial suspect, 31-year-old Marisa Noel, a former fifth-grade teacher at Teche Elementary School, is already in custody. She is charged with 25 counts of indecent behavior with minors and possession of child abuse material. Prosecutors later added rape charges after identifying a second alleged victim, believed to be 10 or 11 years old. State officials say the probe remains active. Authorities continue to gather evidence and have not ruled out further arrests as they piece together the full scope of the alleged offences.
