Ebonyi Labour Party Secretary Seeks Disqualification of Presidential Aspirant Over Citizenship and Age
The Ebonyi State Labour Party Secretary filed a petition to the party’s Presidential Screening Committee in Abuja. He argues that aspirant Samuel Chibuzor Nwigwe should be barred from the 2026 primary. The petition alleges that Nwigwe holds British citizenship, breaching Section 131 of the Constitution and party rules. It also notes that, born in October 1991, he is 34 and falls short of the 35-year age requirement. Beyond constitutional concerns, the petition questions Nwigwe’s membership in the Ebonyi State party structure. It cites his lack of meeting attendance, dues payment and grassroots engagement. The Secretary urges the committee to review these claims and disqualify Nwigwe. The aspirant has not yet responded to the allegations.
