Deregistering ADC Could Spark National Crisis, Warns Timi Frank

Deregistering ADC Could Spark National Crisis, Warns Timi Frank

Former APC spokesperson Timi Frank has raised alarm over plans to deregister the African Democratic Congress and other opposition parties. He says such a move would threaten multi-party democracy and risk igniting unrest ahead of the 2027 elections. Frank alleges the Court of Appeal’s recent judgment on the matter was rushed and lacked proper notice. He claims the decision was scripted to weaken opposition forces and consolidate ruling party power. He’s urging the international community, including the United States, to intervene and defend Nigerians’ constitutional rights. Frank warns that shrinking the democratic space could destabilise the nation and calls on civil society, religious leaders and professional groups to protect Nigeria’s democratic gains.
